Knowledge & Experience
R-TECH Materials’ team of engineers, metallurgists, materials scientists and chemists have a wealth of experience in providing consultancy services to industry. This experience spans many industrial applications such as aerospace, oil & gas, metals manufacture, automotive and construction which means we are just as comfortable supporting development engineers working on an electronic component as we are providing on-site services to large scale plant.
Key Services
Failure Analysis
Our team of experts at R-TECH Materials specialises in the failure analysis of engineering components across a diverse range of industries, including petrochemical, nuclear oil and gas, marine, aerospace, manufacturing, water and power generation. With over 3,000 successful investigations to date, our experts have extensive experience with a variety of materials such as carbon and stainless steels, polymers, composites, and numerous alloys, including copper, nickel, cobalt, titanium, aluminium, and tantalum.
Our expertise allows us to effectively identify and analyse failure mechanisms, providing actionable insights to enhance reliability and performance across all sectors.
When plant, equipment, or components fail in service, the consequences can be catastrophic—impacting human safety, environmental integrity, and operational continuity. Conducting an effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigation is crucial to understanding and critically analysing all the factors contributing to the failure.
Expert Witness
On some occasions, a materials issue can lead to injury, death or a significant financial loss. A claim or dispute of this nature requires an expert in the field to provide an independent opinion about the facts of a case for insurance claims and legal proceedings. Particular procedures must be followed to ensure that no evidence is damaged and all parties are given the opportunity to view the evidence. When destructive testing is required, this will occur at an independent lab agreed by all parties. R-TECH Materials staff are able to act as expert witness in legal cases involving either court appearance or arbitration and have been involved in some high value civil lawsuits in this capacity.
Welding Consultancy
R-Tech Materials has a team of experienced and qualified welding technologists who can provide expert advice on welding processes, quality systems, welding procedures, and welder qualifications for a wide range of structural metallic materials.
Training
Our consultancy team offers a selection of training courses designed to provide in-depth knowledge and expertise in various aspects of materials science. These include:
